What we collect and why
Mailing list
We collect your email address, optional first name and a record of consent to send Society and publication updates. We rely on your consent, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
Membership and the Vault
We collect your email address, first name, Society number, remembered-browser information, seals, badges, rank and progress so we can provide membership, save progress and protect the Vault. We rely on our agreement with you and our legitimate interests in operating the service securely.
A secure browser token may remain for up to 180 days. A new or unrecognised browser needs a secure email link. Secret words are checked but are not kept after validation, apart from brief security processing where necessary.
Voting, messages and site security
If you contact us, we use the details you provide to reply. Our host and security services may process IP address, browser, device, page, error and security-log information to operate and protect the site. These uses rely on our legitimate interests.
You do not have to provide personal information, but we cannot provide mailing-list or Society access without the details needed for those services. We do not sell or rent personal information or share it for another organisation’s marketing.
Providers and transfers
Wealthy Affiliate provides hosting and transactional email. Kit processes the email address, first name, Society number, subscription status and Society tags of people who consent to updates. Some processing may take place outside the UK using safeguards recognised by UK data protection law.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies and similar technologies for security, member access, remembered-browser recognition, saved Vault progress and preferences. We do not use analytics, advertising pixels or behavioural tracking.
How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as needed. Mailing-list details remain until you unsubscribe; a minimal suppression record may then be kept to prevent further email. Membership records remain while active and for a limited period afterwards where needed. Messages, consent records and security logs are kept only for the relevant operational, security or legal period.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for a copy of your information, correction, deletion, restricted use or portability, and you may withdraw consent at any time. We may need to confirm your identity. Email info@societyofcuriouscases.com.
Your right to object: You may object where we rely on legitimate interests. We will consider the request under data protection law.
You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
Children, security and updates
The website is not intended for children under 16. We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, although no online service can guarantee complete security. We may update this page when the website or the law changes; the latest date appears above.
